I read somewhere that the temperature drops 3.5 degrees with every 1,000 feet of elevation gain. Not sure if that's true but I loved getting out the long sleeved clothes and sleeping
under the comforter for a change at my creekside campsite in the Smokey Mountains National Park. I met wonderful folks from all over the country including some hilarious little kids who, among other things, pointed out that I was wearing the same clothes that I wore yesterday. They shared their pasta dinner and I gave them all of my spotted bananas. Both of us were thrilled with the trade.
